The ONS standard allows a link to be made between a product’s identification number and the organisation which allocated that number (typically the manufacturer and trademark owner).
The ONS (Object Naming Service) technology, based on the EPCglobal standard, is similar in principle to the internet’s DNS (Domain Name Service). The standard allows Seres to host your local ONS. You can consequently redirect data flows from product identification numbers to the company’s servers managing the identifier and holding all the data relating to the product since its manufacture.
